Erling Haaland issues brilliant response at Dortmund training as Chelsea transfer mentioned

Published

on

Chelsea transfer target Erling Haaland has denied that he is worth £150million amid constant links with the Blues.

The Borussia Dortmund striker has been strongly linked with a big-money switch to Stamford Bridge throughout the summer, with Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel reportedly determined to strengthen his forward line.

Following his fantastic form for German giants Dortmund since his arrival from Red Bull Salzburg, it is certainly no surprise that Haaland is one of Chelsea’s priority targets.

As it stands, the 21-year-old remains firmly the property of Dortmund despite a number of differing outlets speculating on his future and the various stages of a potential deal.

Now, it seems that Haaland himself has taken an interest in the latest rumours surrounding his signature.

As per Sky in Germany, at Dortmund’s pre-season training camp in Switzerland, the striker asked if there was any fresh news about him, to which the reporter replied that there wasn’t anything but his £150million valuation.

Haaland then gave a brilliant response by simply stating that “no, I’m not worth that”.

Despite the striker not believing he quite holds that valuation, that will surely not be taken into account by the clubs as they attempt to negotiate a fee.

Borussia Dortmund are understood to be keen on not selling the striker this summer, especially after letting wideman Jadon Sancho join Manchester United earlier this summer.

Whilst he has an extraordinarily high valuation this summer, it is speculated that Haaland’s release clause is set to drop to £75million next year, when he will have just two years remaining on his contract at the Westfalenstadion.ADVERTISEMENT

Chelsea legend John Terry makes manager admission as Aston Villa announce departure

Published

on

John Terry has left his role as assistant head coach of Aston Villa, the club has confirmed.

The Englishman left Chelsea for Villa in 2017, ending a 22-year association with the Blues.

He played one season at Villa Park before hanging up his boots, becoming assistant head coach in Dean Smith’s team at the Midlands club.

The 40-year-old has since seen Villa promoted to the Premier League after winning the 2019 Championship play-off final, before enjoying back-to-back seasons in the English top flight, including overseeing an impressive 11th-placed finish last term.

However, the club announced on Monday morning that Terry had left his role, something that he admitted was a tough decision to make, while again expressing his desire to go into management.

“It has been a tremendous honour and privilege to have spent these last three years at Aston Villa, but I feel now is the right time to make the extremely difficult decision to move on,” Terry told the club’s website.

“I want to be as respectful to the manager and everyone at Aston Villa as I can and, having given my future serious consideration over the summer, I genuinely don’t feel it is fair to move into a new season without being certain of seeing that through.

“My immediate plan is to spend some quality time with my family and, thereafter, hopefully, take up some invitations to visit clubs and managers around Europe to develop my aim and objective of becoming a manager.https://data.reachplc.com/211884166387971?utm_source=football_london_newsletter&utm_campaign=chelsea_newsletter2&utm_medium=email&isIframeEmbed=1

“It has always been my ambition to move into football management and, providing the right opportunity presents itself, I feel ready to take up such a challenge.”

It remains to be seen how long Terry will wait before throwing his hat in the managerial ring but given how highly rated he was at Villa, it may be only a matter of time before he becomes the boss of a club somewhere in the English footballing ladder.

How Chelsea’s 25-man squad could look with Marina Granovskaia transfer masterclass

Published

on

There’s expected to be movement at Stamford Bridge before the end of the window, so football.london has assessed what Chelsea’s 25-man squad for next season could end up looking like

It hasn’t exactly been the most exciting transfer window at Stamford Bridge so far, with Chelsea transfer chief Marina Granovskaia yet to complete an incoming following the Blues’ Champions League triumph.

Although there have been some outgoings, notably Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud who both joined AC Milan on permanent deals, the club haven’t been too busy in the market yet – but that is expected to change.

Backed by Roman Abramovich, the Blues will be hoping to invest in players who are likely to improve their already talented squad.

Landing a new striker is a top priority for head coach Thomas Tuchel, with the German determined to improve his side’s goalscoring output. Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland, of course, is the club’s number one target and they are desperate to add him to their ranks during this summer’s transfer window.

Any deal to bring the Norway international to Stamford Bridge is not going to be easy, with Dortmund reluctant to lose the talented Leeds-born frontman. However, reports have suggested that a bid is imminent, while some claim Chelsea have also even agreed personal terms with the 21-year-old.

RELATED ARTICLES

It’s well known that the England international is best friends with Blues star Mason Mount and after his fantastic performance at Euro 2020 – in addition to the fact Billy Gilmour has been allowed to leave on loan for the year – Chelsea could look to persuade Rice to switch east London for west London.

Meanwhile, they’re also still in the hunt for a defender after reported moves to sign Achraf Hakimi and Sergio Ramos fell through.

Whilst the former Real Madrid captain opted to move to Ligue 1 giants PSG, his defensive partner at Los Blancos, Raphael Varane, is also expected to leave the club.

Chelsea and Manchester United both reportedly remain interested in the French international, although recent reports suggest that the Reds are the frontrunners to secure his signature. Adama Traore is another name that has been heavily mentioned with a switch to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have until after the window to confirm their final 25-man squad for the Premier League season, but with their opener against Crystal Palace just three weeks away, they’ll be looking to get a move on with their transfer activity.

Here’s how Tuchel’s current squad looks ahead of his side’s home clash with the Eagles:

Goalkeepers: Edouard Mendy, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Karlo Ziger.

Defenders: Antonio Rudiger, Marcos Alonso, Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva, Kurt Zouma, Ben Chilwell, Reece James, Cesar Azpilicueta, Emerson.

Midfielders: Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Christian Pulisic, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount, Hakim Ziyech, Faustino Anjorin, Ross Barkley.

Forwards: Tammy Abraham, Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Kai Havertz.

As much as Chelsea want to bring players in, they’ll need to offload talent to free up space in the final squad.

Those linked with moves away include the likes of Tammy Abraham – who has been linked with moves across London to both Tottenham and Arsenal – Emerson, Marcos Alonso and Ross Barkley.

Several others could also be sold to help fund future signings.

Danny Drinkwater, Michy Batshuayi, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Davide Zappacosta are all surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge but have yet to be sold.

However, if Granovskaia can complete the signings on Tuchel’s wishlist, the Blues could be in for a very exciting season.
